Geranium

Rose-green mint-sharp, and herbaceous: the most clear-eyed floral in the range.

Emotional Qualities

Geranium is rosy and green at once, a fresh floral with an almost minty sharpness running through it. It is warm without being soft, bright without tipping into sweetness. It does not soothe a room so much as clear and freshen it: the air feels as though a window has just been opened and something stale has left. There is an edge to that freshness, a green cut under the rose that keeps it honest. It is the scent of a room that has just been aired and set right, neither heavy nor cloying, simply clean and alert.

Comparison with Similar Scents

Geranium vs. Rose

Rose is deeper and fuller, intensely floral, with a richness that can feel almost heavy. Geranium is lighter and sharper, a green, herbaceous edge keeping it from being purely romantic. Rose feels enveloping; geranium feels clear and vital. If rose deepens the air of a room, geranium freshens it.

Geranium vs. Palmarosa

Palmarosa is softer and sweeter, gentler and grassier, more delicate in its floral quality. Geranium has more presence: a rosy fullness with a sharper green note and more bite. Palmarosa softens a room; geranium sharpens it. If palmarosa is the quiet floral kept to the background, geranium is the one that steps forward.
